H.R. 4751: Local Enforcement for Local Lands Act of 2016

If you have been following the Oregon Malheur Wildlife Refuge Protest and what happened on January 26, 2016, when the Oregon State Police and FBI ambused the protestors while they were on their way to a meeting in the next county, you will know we have a problem in our Country.  The Bureau of Land Management with the help of our 4th Branch of Government, the Dept. of Interior has overreached their authority and has run our ranchers off their lands, threatened them and even burned them out.  These protestors were trying to help their fellow neighbors and ranchers to stop the abusive land grabs.  Now they are going as far as to injure and even kill them.

This Bill presented by Representative of Utah, Jason Chaffetz: HR 4751, Local Enforcement for Local Lands Act of 2016  does the following:

  • Terminates the law enforcement function within BLM and Forest Service.

  • Provides block granted funding to local law enforcement.

  • Deputizes local law enforcement to defend federal land.

  • Establishes a formula to reimburse local governments for law enforcement on public lands based on the percentage of public land in each state.

  • Restores responsibility for law enforcement to elected officials who are accountable to the local community.

Sheriff Robert Dekker, President of the Utah Sheriffs' Association, in a letter to Representative Chafftez stated, "We support this bill 100% and would like to help in any possible way. Thank you for looking out for Utah Sheriffs and the authority our constituents and the constitution has granted us."

It is very important that we all put forward our best effort to get this bill passed.  I have started already by sending out 16 letters to Representatives and intend on sending 16 more each week.

There are links below to help you and there are many ways you can help.  Whether it be by letter or, by clicking on the link to comment on the bill or, call your Representative or a few Representatives, any amount to help push this bill through.

Feel free to use the sample letter in it entirety or part of it.   This page is to help make this easier for anyone who wants to help.  We have 30 men sitting in Federal Prison because of these abusive land grabs and getting this bill passed could make all the difference for them and others who might be suffering as this bill is being considered.

Thank you for your time regarding this matter.
